An absolutely fantastic unique item kindly donated to The Prince's Trust by Joanna Lumley, OBE.

This lovely little school chair is from the Art Room at St Mary's School near Hastings, which Joanna attended from 1957-1963, around the ages of 11-16.  She has said she felt very much at home, and loved her six years there.  She has said that even back then they longed to be like the film stars of those days! They dipped their nylon petticoats in sugar-water and dried them on radiators to make them stiff so they would stick out like Brigitte Bardot’s pink gingham dress!

The rest is history, as Joanna went on to become a model, author and British actress, well known for playing Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous, starring in The New Avengers and appearing as a Bond Girl. Her distinctive voice has been supplied for animated characters, film narration, voice-overs and even AOL's  "You have email" notification in the UK!

Joanna has won three BAFTA Awards and a British Comedy Award.

This chair has that wonderful vintage look so sort after today, with the added bonus of a fantastic celebrity story attached to it!  There are two little tags, hand-written by Joanna, attached to the chair and tied on with a bow. They read as follows;

'Chair from my school days given with love x x'

'From the art room, St Mary's School'

'I was there from 1957-1963'

'From Joanna Lumley'

A real talking point for any home... just lovely!
